PHILIPPA RIDDELL | Senior Planner
Philippa (Pip) has over 14 years’ experience, mainly in the public sector in Queenstown and following that the North Shore, when she moved to Auckland in 2011 to take a Senior Planner position at Auckland Council.
While at Auckland Council she gained extensive knowledge of Auckland Unitary Plan standards, represented at notified hearings and the Urban Design Panel, wrote planning evidence for the Environment Court, and was a Delegated Officer in the Takapuna office. She was also Acting Team Leader for the Albany and Upper Harbour team.
Pip has experience with a wide range of projects including urban renewal with both residential and commercial developments; rural subdivision and development including ONL and VAL areas; heritage and cultural sites and buildings; tourism operations including air, land and water based activities and operations; sporting and music events; and the upgrade of local infrastructure and amenities.
Memorable projects she has been involved with include; negotiations leading to the approval of a whisky distillery in Gibbston Valley, subdivision and building platforms in Closeburn, the Crown Range, and ’The Triangle’, Wakatipu Basin; the first non-complying minor residential unit above the Okura Estuary; a retail centre in Rosedale; a hotel, apartment and retail complex in the Business zone in Albany Metropolitan Centre; and a high-end apartment and commercial development in Long Bay, with her notified planner’s report being adopted by Independent Planning Commissioners.
Outside of work, Pip enjoys travelling both in NZ and abroad, getting outdoors, going for a run, and catching up with friends. Being a southern girl she supports the Highlanders and has a taste for cheese rolls!
